Top Ten Tips for New Injectors

As a new injector, it's natural to feel nervous, or like you're so behind your peers. Like all new skills, it takes time and practice to improve! After training so many new injectors, we've compiled a list of our top ten tips to have you feeling confident in your abilities. Read below to take the next step to becoming the injector you aspire to be!

1. Go slow- give yourself an extra ten minutes in each appointment so you don’t feel rushed. When you have a ten minute break between each patient, you’ll know it’s time to trim your appointment time

2. Immerse yourself in daily education- sign up for up for clinical tips from the experts. Dr. Tim Pearce offers weekly advice through email as well as his YouTube channel, Rana Kennelly has a Patreon subscription for a minimal investment. Both are geared toward those new to injecting!

3. Hone your skills on friends and family- your loved ones trust that you’ll make them look and feel fabulous, so they won’t mind if it takes you an extra few minutes in their appointment. It’ll also make follow up easy as you will likely be seeing them on a regular basis. Its great experience for you to see how similar dosages and patterns will settle in differently on each person. This will help give you a feel for how muscle strength, age, and activity level will affect your dosage decisions

4. Get to know your patients on a personal level. When you “find the why” you’ll bond with them and your career becomes that much more enjoyable!

5. Stick to one product. that is one too and one filler. there are enough things for you to consider when you’re a newbie… don’t overcomplicate things by also throwing multiple products into the mix just yet.

6. Under treat rather than over treat. If there is any question in your mind, go to the low end of the dosage range. your patients will appreciate being able to move their faces and won’t mind if they need to come back to add a bit more! Better than overtreating and freezing them for months. Just be sure to let them know what your plan is so they don’t think you watered down the product or did something wrong.

7. Mark your anatomy! this extra step ensures you have a plan before you get to injecting. This will keep you calm as a beginner. by the time you go to inject, you’re just following your own roadmap.

8. Use one syringe per area with Tox. That means one for the forehead, one for 11’s, one for each side of the crows feet etc. The less thinking you have to do while physically injecting, the better. The pennies it will cost you on the front end will save you stress and headaches on the back end. This way you can focus on the comfort of your patient.

9. Take before and after photos. These will help you learn from your results and improve faster than most. They’ll also come in handy when potential patients want to see examples of your work.

10. Don’t discount your work. Ever. I know its tempting when you’re getting started, but coupon deals attract deal chasers, and they won't stick around to become long-time patients.
